It has become increasingly important to objectively assess personnel competency within an organisation, whether for reviews, interviews, recruitment assessment, promotion, performance management, or to assess technical capability, as well as using these to define talent and high potential. This training course has been specifically tailored to aid those who have to design, develop, implement or assess people using Competency Framework systems within their organisation.

  • Competency vs. competence
  • Aligning competencies with business objectives and strategy
  • Framework structure - Technical vs. behavioural, specific vs. generic
  • Data gathering methods and system design (online vs. paper-based)
Day 2 Developing Behavioural Technical Competency Frameworks 6 lessons
  • Framework Development - Assessment factors, terminology, and structure
  • Testing, calibration, and continuous improvement
  • Behavioural Frameworks - Identifying behaviours, defining criteria and levels
  • Assessment methods (including psychometrics)
  • Technical Frameworks - Defining technical competencies
  • Measurement methods, data gathering, and assessor requirements
Day 3 Implementation Assessment Continuous Improvement 6 lessons
  • Implementing Competency Frameworks
  • Recruitment, performance assessment, and employee development
  • Implementation Strategy - Communication plan and stakeholder buy-in
  • Training for system users
  • Monitoring & Improvement - Review, feedback, and system optimization
  • Next steps and continuous development
